This week we deployed the new Australian site for the appliance giant ILVE www.ilve.com.au.

The ILVE team are makers of premium ovens, cooktops and rangehoods. And more recently fridges, dishwashers and coffee machines.  They are known as the brand “for people who are simply passionate about cooking”.

We were engaged to create the new website for ILVE by the fantabulous folk at Gorilla Communications, a design and communications agency in Sydney.  We were asked to come in and take over the job from another digital crew who had let it fall off the rails.

A bunch of code had already been written, so we had to flex our code deciphering  muscles to make sense of things.  If you are into this stuff, you’ll know that sometimes working with someone else’s code is about as comfortable as wearing the stinky 2-sizes-too-small trainers your mate has created their own imprint in.  Not awesome.

Anyway, the brief was to create a beautiful site and get it up and running and that we did.  Luckily, we were experienced in the php cake framework the site was written in, so we could get to the bottom of the code.  We needed to match the artwork to the existing code and make it work, which required a lot of unraveling… and then some re-raveling.

We pride ourselves on our ability in the world of “pixel-perfect”.  What I mean is creating websites that look exactly like the artwork.  This project greatly challenged us, but allowed us to hone this skill even further.

We loved working with Gorilla.   They are like us in their approach, committed to the client to the very end and willing to put in the hard yards.  But also, like us, they are prepared to advocate change and drive the project in a new direction if required.

The end result for ILVE is a great new site with store locator, functionality to book a demonstration class, product gallery and shopping cart to buy extras.  ILVE is really happy and the site is now being translated into Chinese for hosting in China. Check it out at www.ilve.com.au.
